JAKARTA, GESAHKITA COM–Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno is putting a target of creating new jobs that employ 4,000 to 6,000 people before the next Eid, which is in May. He mentions that the target would be achieved through several labor-intensive programs.
“This morning, we held a coordination meeting with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs to discuss labor-intensive programs. We discussed how to make sure that before the Eid the programs can absorb labor,” Sandiaga said in a written statement on Monday, February 15.
The labor-intensive program is one of the schemes carried out by the government to pursue national economic recovery (PEN). Every ministry has one of these programs, the main goal is empowering people in order to increase their purchasing power, and alleviating poverty.
Sandiaga Uno explained that the government continues to pursue the recovery of economic activities, including in the tourism sector and the creative industry. Among others, the BISA program which is focused in Bali, aimed at providing jobs for up to 150,000 people in the island through a number of projects.(Tourismministery)
