PALEMBANG, GESAHKITA COM—- The Provincial Government of South Sumatra (Sumsel) offered to host the draw for the U-20 World Cup to replace Bali Province which previously hosted the event but FIFA canceled the event.

South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru said that  the South Sumatra Provincial Government, have offered to replace the location for the U-20 World Cup drawing.

Even though there is currently a polemic regarding the implementation of the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia, the Governor of South Sumatra believes that the sporting event will still take place in the country.

His belief was based on ongoing preparations, including a team from FIFA when inspecting the I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Bali, Monday (26/3).

“With this readiness, we certainly hope that the U-20 World Cup will continue in Indonesia so that it can stimulate and accelerate so that our economy recovers quickly. Whatever it is, we are waiting for FIFA’s decision,” he added.

FIFA started the final inspection process for stadiums in Indonesia for six consecutive days from 22 March to 27 March.

There were 18 FIFA representatives from various departments such as competition, safety, security, media, and other match support departments, who came and started a thorough inspection of the six cities hosting the prestigious event.

The six stadiums are Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (Jakarta), Si Starling Harupat Stadium (Bandung), Manahan Stadium (Solo), Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya), Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring Stadium (Palembang), and Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium ( Gianyar, Bali).
