“We are coordinating with the Director General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation and the Director of Inauguration and Administration of Forest Areas of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in determining this location,” said Supriono.
The provincial government is accelerating from various sides to accelerate the construction of the Tanjung Carat seaport because it is targeted that President Joko Widodo can lay the first stone by the end of 2021.
The Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru, hopes that the central government will make Tanjung Carat Port a super-priority project, so that the groundbreaking target at the end of 2021 can be accomplished.
Since receiving the green light from President Jokowi, the South Sumatra Provincial Government has mobilized all resources to realize the ocean port.
“We are very serious about making it happen and hope that the central government also has the same energy,” said Herman Deru.
So far, according to him, the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, is seeking approval from the Ministry of Finance on the request for facilities for the preparation and implementation of the project transaction of the government and the New Palembang Port business entity in Tanjung Carat.
The location of the New Palembang Port has also been determined to be in the villages of Marga Sungsang, Sungsang 1, Sungsang 2 in the Tanjung Carat area.
So far, a consultant for the basic design of the New Palembang Port has been appointed.
In addition, the Port of New Palembang is currently in the process of determining the location by the Ministry of Transportation, the process of determining it as a PSN, the process of transferring the function of forest areas, and the process of planning for PPP financing. He asked all parties to work together to solve problems in the field, such as certification and licensing, before the schedule for laying the first stone for the port project is carried out at the end of 2021.
Then, the provincial government also wants to ensure that the legality and licensing of the Tanjung Carat Port area, Banyuasin Regency, is completed before November 2021.
There are three parties who are asked to coordinate and synergize with each other, namely the provincial government, PLN and BPN, and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).
